Owaisi Vs Opposition: New Political Front Over Sir & Muslim Representation | Capital TV

1 min read

AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi clarified on October 6 in Hyderabad why he stayed away from the opposition INDIA bloc's recent protest in Delhi against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Addressing reporters, Owaisi stated that his party is not an alliance member, using a popular idiom to explain his absence. He strongly criticized the current selection process for the Chief Election Commissioner, calling it entirely skewed in favor of the executive branch. Owaisi emphasized that this flawed appointment procedure is a major democratic concern that urgently requires correction to ensure fairness. His remarks highlight ongoing political realignments and debates surrounding election oversight in India, as opposition parties continue to challenge institutional selection methods while smaller parties navigate their independent stances ahead of upcoming political developments.

Speaking to reporters in Hyderabad on October 6, Owaisi stated that he did not participate in the INDIA bloc’s protest against CEC Gyanesh Kumar in Delhi because AIMIM is not part of the alliance. He said, “I did not go there because I am not a part of that (alliance). Begani shaadi mein mera kya kaam? The process for the selection of the Chief Election Commissioner, which is wrong. It is completely in favour of the executive. The process needs to be changed. Selection of the Chief Election Commissioner is the biggest problem. That is wrong; that has to be corrected.”
