Rahul Gandhi Rally: Traders Demand Date Change, Congress Faces Diwali Season Backlash| Dr. Manish Kr
The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has urged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to reschedule his upcoming 'Vote Bachao–Desh Bachao' rally, currently planned for November 1 at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan. Business owners and traders argue that holding a major political gathering during the peak Diwali festive season will severely disrupt local commerce, create massive traffic congestion, and affect festive shopping in the national capital. This marks the second time CTI has appealed to the Congress party, suggesting November 10 as a more suitable alternative date. Despite the strong backlash from the trading community, Delhi Police officials stated that the initial permission granted for the November 1 event remains unchanged, though it is subject to specific administrative conditions. It remains uncertain whether the Congress leadership will heed the traders' concerns and alter the rally schedule.
Rahul Gandhi’s November 1 Vote Bachao–Desh Bachao rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan has sparked controversy during the Diwali business season. CTI has written to Gandhi for the second time, urging a date change to November 10. Meanwhile, Delhi Police says the existing permission remains unchanged, subject to conditions. Will Congress reconsider its decision?
