Gandhi specifically targeted Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah owe their positions to him, and warned that Kumar would eventually face imprisonment. While the Congress party had anticipated a massive turnout of around 10 lakh supporters to showcase their political strength, visuals from the venue featuring empty chairs sparked intense debate regarding the actual crowd size and the overall impact of the event.
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi said Gyanesh Kumar will be removed as Chief Election Commissioner and be jailed eventually, alleging that votes were stolen in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections through the electronic voting machines (EVMs) and manipulation of voter lists. This is called treason," Gandhi said at the INDIA bloc rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan,. “Without Gyanesh Kumar, neither would Narendra Modi have become Prime Minister nor Amit Shah the Home Minister,” he argued, calling the last Lok Sabha polls illegal. The rally was projected by Congress as a major show of strength, with the party reportedly expecting around 10 lakh people. However, crowd estimates and visuals from the venue sparked debate over the actual turnout.
