1 min read

The Congress party high command has initiated moves to resolve persistent internal conflicts within its Punjab unit as preparations for upcoming elections gather pace. Recent discussions at the Congress Working Committee meeting highlighted tensions and growing discontent among various factions within the state leadership. To counter this factionalism and present a united front, party leaders are bringing senior stakeholders together to formulate a cohesive electoral strategy. Internal friction has posed significant challenges for the party in Punjab, making leadership intervention crucial. The high command aims to address local grievances and streamline campaigning efforts by engaging directly with disgruntled leaders. Effective coordination between rival groups is seen as essential for improving the party's electoral prospects and ensuring disciplined execution of campaign plans across the region in the run-up to the polls.

Amid the long-standing factionalism in the Punjab Congress, the party high command has now prepared to bring senior leaders together to deliberate on the electoral strategy. A two-day important meeting of key leaders of the Punjab Congress with senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled in Delhi. In the meeting, along with preparations for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, discussions may also be held on the differences prevailing in the state organization. Today, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting is expected to discuss the strategy for upcoming elections in various states.
